Emotional Regulation Skills

 

The University of California San Francisco and the Lagley Prter Psychiatric Hospital & Clinics wrote a manual for patients in which they can learn to regulate their emotions.

The initial phase consists of proposing goals in Emotional Regulation, first of all, you must understand your emotions, carry out actions to reduce emotional vulnerability and finally manage to reduce emotional suffering.

Emotional Regulation Strategies:

        You must learn to:

                Identify and name your emotions.

                Understand the function of the emotions you present. 

                Reduce negative emotions to avoid harm or suffering.

                Increase positive emotions.

    What prevention measures can you take?

                Take care of yourself physically, going to the doctor when necessary.

                Taking care of your diet.

                Avoiding drugs and alcohol. 

                Maintaining a sleep and rest schedule.

                Having physical activity.

                Do activities that keep you relaxed.
